This Bollywood classic offers freewheeling comedy and camp, and a potent vision of social harmony. The film will be preceded by a special reception, and a presentation by the authors of Amar Akbar Anthony: Bollywood, Brotherhood, and the Nation: William Elison (Religious Studies, UCSB), Christian Lee Novetzke (International Studies, University of Washington) and Andy Rotman (Religion, Smith College).

As much a portrait of the city, as of its main protagonist, Indu Krishnan’s doc chronicles five years in the tumultuous life of Zakhir, a gentle soul who lives on the streets of Bangalore. Followed by Q&A with filmmaker.

With a lively backdrop of superheroes and comic books, Harleen Singh’s “Drawn Together” examines issues of diversity, representation, and racism. Followed by Q&A with filmmaker.
